The Savannah Senior Strikers is a group of golf enthusiasts founded in 2006. The organization was created by a group of friends—Norman Mitchell, Willie Bryant, and Bobby Hamilton—who met regularly on Wednesdays to enjoy golfing. As time passed, more individuals joined the group, including Freddie Young, Edward Smith, and Ernest Grant. Under Norman Mitchell's leadership, the idea of naming the group arose, and it was then that they became the Savannah Senior Strikers.
Norman Mitchell served as the first president of the club. However, as membership grew and Norman faced family health challenges, he was granted emeritus status to focus on his family. In his absence, Edward (Sonny) Smith stepped in as the new leader of the Savannah Senior Strikers.
In 2012, Harold Brown was officially voted in as president of the organization. The Savannah Senior Strikers also prides itself on its charitable work. The proceeds from their Annual Golf Tournaments support various charitable organizations. Furthermore, the group operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which is recognized under Title 26 of the United States Code for tax-exempt purposes.
The Savannah Senior Strikers not only provide an opportunity for men and women to come together for a shared love of golf, but they also give back to the community through their charitable efforts.
The Savannah Senior Strikers Golf Club is thrilled to announce our commitment to making a positive impact in our community. As a part of our ongoing efforts to give back, we are delighted to make a generous donation to Greenbriar Children Center and the Savannah State Female Golf Team. By supporting them, we hope to contribute towards creating a brighter future for those in need.
